4 & 8 Week Sessions

The Ramah Darom camping model is based on a 4-week session, starting with rising 4th graders, giving each camper time to settle into the camp environment, gain independence and resilience, and become a valuable member of our Jewish community. Campers entering 6th-10th grades may choose to join us for a single or double session, with an intersession in between. Returning rising 11th-grade campers spend the whole summer at Ramah Darom as part of our Gesher Leadership Program.

To help younger campers transition to a 4-week session, Ramah Darom offers three stepping stone programs:

  1. Ta’am: This is a 5-night program specifically designed for rising 2nd graders. It provides a brief but meaningful introduction to the Camp experience, allowing young campers to get a taste of what Ramah Darom has to offer.
  2. Garinim: This program spans 11 nights and is tailored for rising 3rd graders. It provides a slightly longer duration for campers to further explore and engage in the Camp’s activities and community.
  3. Nitzanim & Sollelim K’tzara: This “short” session offers rising 4th and 5th graders an abbreviated 18-night option.

Additionally, the Camp provides an opportunity for returning rising 11th-grade campers to participate in the Gesher Leadership Program, where they spend the entire summer at Ramah Darom. This program focuses on developing leadership skills and offers a more advanced and involved experience for these campers.

By offering a range of program options, Ramah Darom aims to cater to the diverse needs and preferences of campers across different age groups, allowing them to grow, thrive, and build meaningful connections within the Jewish community.
