Activities

Climb a rock wall, score a goal, create a masterpiece, swing from a tower, act on stage, hike to a waterfall, strum a guitar, and celebrate Shabbat surrounded by your Camp family. There’s something for everyone at Ramah Darom.

We offer a wide variety of activities, including land and water sports, arts, music and theater experiences, camping, cooking, Jewish learning, Israeli culture and so much more. Daily activities differ based on each camper’s interests and age.

Aquatics

Our breathtaking lake and waterfront offer endless aquatic activities. From paddle boating, canoeing and kayaking to our “BLOB,” where campers launch each other into the air, there’s always something to cool campers off. Ramah Darom’s zero-entry pool features water basketball, water volleyball, water polo goals and more. Campers will also learn to perfect their strokes in our American Red Cross swimming program.*

Athletics & Sports

Camp Ramah Darom offers dozens of sports opportunities for all levels and stresses the “Jewish Value of Sports.” The athletics program includes basketball, baseball, softball, tennis, soccer, beach volleyball, floor hockey, fitness, aerobics, archery, yoga and more. Campers receive instruction on techniques and strategies from specialists in each discipline and have opportunities for competitive play within an environment that values participation, personal achievement, teamwork and good sportsmanship. This summer, 8th-grade campers will go on a horseback riding field trip and 10th-grade campers will have the opportunity to go horseback riding at a nearby stable and or water ski on nearby Lake Burton, as part of Nivonim University (Nivo U).

The Arts

Creativity and artistic exploration are a big part of the Camp Ramah Darom experience. Whatever your passion may be: singing, dance, music, drama, ceramics, woodworking, sewing, drawing, etching or silk painting, there are so many creative outlets at Camp. Campers put on Hebrew plays on the main stage, train with experts in technical theater production, learn Israeli folk dance (as well as modern dance and hip-hop), study guitar, harmonica, or Djembe (West African hand-drum) and so much more! Read Theater at Ramah Darom.

Outdoor Adventure

Our 50-foot climbing wall and the high-ropes course offer adventurous campers exciting outdoor opportunities. Campers also participate in team-building activities on our challenge course. Overnight campouts take place on both our own campsites or in the adjacent Chattahoochee National Forest. Older campers participate in backpacking trips on the Appalachian Trail and rock climbing throughout the surrounding area.

Off-Campus Trips

Each session, campers leave Camp for an exciting off-site field trip. For our younger campers, day trip experiences include horseback riding, hiking, gold mining, trout fishing and visits to water parks. Our older campers embark on multi-day adventures to places like Memphis, Savannah and Charleston, Raleigh-Durham and Washington, D.C.

Jewish Learning

By creating an informal, inclusive atmosphere that integrates fun activities with meaningful, spiritual prayer and religious reflection, Camp Ramah Darom inspires a love of Judaism. The magic of Camp is that Judaism comes alive naturally, and is seamlessly integrated into the fun, innovative and creative programming campers participate in throughout the summer. Campers live a Jewish lifestyle in a warm and nurturing environment, with individuals who share a commitment to Jewish values, campers and staff create a vibrant kehillah (community).

Israeli Culture

Supporting and developing a connection to the State of Israel is a core value of Camp Ramah. Each summer, our Camp staff is enriched by the presence of dozens of shlichim (emissaries) from all over Israel. This special group brings wonderful energy and creativity to the Camp program and helps campers put a personal face on everything they have learned about Israel in school.

The Ramah movement also sponsors programs in Israel. Ramah Israel Seminar is a six-week summer experience for the year after campers “graduate” from our camper program and before they are eligible to work at Camp (as all of our counselors are high school graduates).

*Summer activities and offerings vary by age group, staff availability and length of the program campers are attending.

“My son is able to be the best version of himself at Ramah Darom. He can feel safe, real and take chances. THANK YOU!”
