Gesher Leadership Program

Our Gesher Leadership Program, the culminating milestone of our campers’ Ramah Darom journey, is an eight-week program offered to entering 11th graders. Just a few of the special things your camper will experience include:

  • 10-day bus trip along the East Coast with a special Shabbat at Camp Ramah in the Poconos
  • Visits to several college campuses and Hillel leaders to help them think critically about their college choices
  • Meetings with representatives from AIPAC (American Israel Public Affairs Committee), lobbyists and legislators in Washington, D.C.
  • Outdoor adventure challenge excursions
  • Lifelong leadership and team building skills

“Ramah Darom encouraged me to find my personal connection to Judaism. I feel so fortunate to be able to pay it forward and help bring that experience to the next generation through my work.”

Hannah Gutterman Spinrad, North Carolina Hillel Executive Director

Why Gesher?

Gesher=YOU! You take the driver’s seat and plan your own experience and programs in Gesher. With guidance from your counselors, you will gain the skills necessary to develop and execute programs, work on team projects and make your ideas come to life. The only limit is your imagination.

Gesher=Leadership! Grow as a leader, political advocate and community change agent through participation in powerful training and real-life experiences. Build on skills you developed in Nivonim University in Gesher, and start sharing those skills as you begin to mentor younger campers. Become familiar with many different aspects of Camp and prepare to serve as future Camp staff through the Counselors-In-Training (CIT) program.

Gesher=Road Trips! Set out on a 10-day bus trip along the East Coast! Along the way, spend time touring several cities (including Washington, DC and Philadelphia, PA) and stopping off at attractions. And, spend Shabbat at Camp Ramah in the Poconos.

Gesher=College Choices! Advance your college choice process to the next level. The Gesher Road Trip will take you to visit college campuses in North Carolina, Washington DC, Maryland, and Pennsylvania. Professionals from the Hillel International Center will challenge you to think critically about your college preferences.

Gesher=Israel Advocacy & Activism!
Learn about the formation of the State of Israel and the documents at the centerpiece of all discussions regarding peace in the Middle East. Hear from professionals, in Washington, DC, at AIPAC (the American Israel Public Affairs Committee) and put this knowledge and training into practice by lobbying on behalf of Israel in meetings with legislators and legislative aides on Capitol Hill.

Gesher=Adventure Challenge! Push yourself beyond your comfort zone. On the Etgar adventure challenge trip, you will go hiking, biking, and participate in a challenge course with mud obstacles.

Don’t miss out on this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity
to celebrate your last year as a camper at Camp Ramah Darom and prepare for your future.
