A Day at Camp

There’s Nothing Typical About a Day at Camp: Every Day is an Adventure

From sunrise to starlight, every day at Ramah Darom is filled with fun, friendship, and unforgettable experiences. Whether you’re climbing a rock wall, scoring a goal on the sports field, swinging from the tower, or hiking to our on-campus waterfall, there’s something for everyone to discover.

Each camper’s day is shaped by their interests and age group, offering the perfect balance of structure and freedom to explore. One camper might spend the morning strumming a guitar by the lake, while another creates a masterpiece in the art studio, or brings a character to life on stage. Others might be learning to cook a new recipe, diving into a spirited game of Gaga, or trying their hand at archery.

Older campers choose from a rotating schedule of chugim (electives), tailoring their experience to their passions and goals. Our 5- and 11-night campers get to “taste” a little of everything, sampling the wide variety of activities Camp has to offer.

Each day begins with age-appropriate tefillah (prayer). Our kehillah (community) gathers in the Chadar Ochel (Dining Hall) daily for three delicious meals and for exciting all-Camp events like Yom Sport or Yom Yisrael throughout the kayitz (summer). In the evenings, the energy shifts to creative and spirited programs organized by aidot (age divisions), building strong bonds between campers and staff.

At the heart of it all is a deep love for Israel, Jewish tradition, and the Hebrew language. Whether it’s in song, prayer, conversation, or even a game of flag football, Hebrew is woven naturally into the rhythm of each day. Campers connect to Jewish traditions and Israeli culture in joyful and meaningful ways—from dancing to Israeli music to exploring Jewish values around the campfire, or diving into a creative chug.

And when Friday comes, the excitement builds as we prepare for the highlight of the week: Shabbat. With candles glowing and voices rising in song, we gather as one big Camp family to welcome the peace and beauty of Shabbat in our stunning mountain setting.

No matter how you spend your day—on the stage, in the water, on the court, or under the stars—each moment at Ramah Darom is filled with growth, laughter, and memories that last a lifetime.

On the first day of Camp, each camper receives a visual schedule to attach to their backpack. Don’t worry if your camper doesn’t know Hebrew—these words will become familiar in no time with help from their bunkmates, counselors, and the Hanhallah (Camp Leadership).

The sample schedules shown above (and listed below) reflect a typical day for our younger campers. Older campers follow a revised schedule that includes more free time and a later wake-up.
