As we approach Thanksgiving, I have been reflecting on how closely the holiday’s themes mirror the spirit of Ramah Darom. Gratitude, community, reflection, growth, and of course, the joy of gathering over delicious food—these are not just Thanksgiving traditions; they are woven into the fabric of Ramah Darom.
Pirkei Avot teaches, “Eizehu ashir? Ha-sameach b’chelko”—“Who is rich? One who rejoices in what they have.” Our riches at Ramah Darom come not from abundance in the material sense, but from the profound blessings we share: a vibrant and connected community, a beautiful campus that inspires growth, and the transformative Jewish experiences we create together.
At Ramah Darom, we see campers gaining confidence, forming lifelong friendships, and discovering joy in Jewish living. We welcome families and adults seeking rest, learning, growth, and connection. We experience moments of spiritual connection, identity formation, and personal growth that remind us why this place is so meaningful.
And we feel deep gratitude to each of you. Whether you entrust us with your children, are alumni who carry Ramah’s values into the world, for retreat participants who came once or return year after year, and for the dedicated staff, and lay leaders who help us live our North Star.
Thanksgiving invites us to pause and appreciate the people and places that shape our lives. As I do so, I am profoundly grateful for each of you. Your engagement, your enthusiasm, and your support allow us to continue building a community rooted in Jewish joy, learning, and belonging.
Your presence strengthens our shared work and ensures that Ramah Darom continues to be a place where every day feels a little bit like Thanksgiving.
On behalf of our entire team, I wish you and your loved ones a meaningful and joyful holiday.
Your generosity makes Jewish joy possible. It fuels scholarships, supports innovative programs, and sustains this sacred space where community flourishes.
