Introducing Our New Board of Directors

This week, the Ramah Darom Board of Directors elected a new slate of Officers and three new Directors. We are incredibly fortunate to have this distinguished group leading our organization into the future. 

Our New Officers Are: 

Each of our Officers has a deep, long-term connection to Ramah Darom. Angela’s election is a true milestone as she is our first Board Chair who was a camper at Ramah Darom (and in our very first summer)! Angela was also a summer staff member for several years, got married at Ramah Darom and has attended several retreats. 

We are very excited to welcome the following new Board Directors: 

Layne Bilu (Boca Raton, FL). Layne has a passion for Jewish Education and has worked as a preschool teacher and as a facilitator, integrating students with behavior challenges into the classroom, in various Jewish institutions. Layne currently serves as the K-8 Coordinator at Donna Klein Jewish Academy supporting both teachers and families. Layne has a strong dedication to Jewish Philanthropy and Community Engagement. She currently serves as the Vice Chair for Young Women’s Philanthropy on the Women’s Philanthropy Board for the Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County. Her past board experience includes Vice President of Community Engagement for Congregation Shaarei Kodesh and serving as a trustee for many years. She also sits as a member at large for the PTO at Donna Klein Jewish Academy. 

Although she never attended Ramah as a camper, all three of her children are lifers at Ramah Darom and the Bilu Family was a regular fixture at Winter Break Family Camp for many years. 

Elise Kosofsky (Charlotte, NC). Elise is a mom of three daughters, wife and works in accounting. Two of her daughters attended Ramah Darom. Elise has served on the Ramah Darom Camp Committee for over a year. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Foundation For the Charlotte Jewish Community and the Charlotte Jewish Day School. 

Scott Sherris (Atlanta, GA). Scott is a finance director with 25 years of corporate experience. He lives in Chamblee, GA with his wife, Fay Ann, and their three sons, who all attend Ramah Darom, with the oldest starting his Gesher year. The Sherris family have been members of Congregation B’nai Torah for 16 years and have attended Ramah Darom’s Winter Break Family Camp for the past 7 years, where they are often the last family to leave the gates. Scott loves to hike on vacations in Nevada, upstate New York or Iceland, and is thrilled to have more opportunity to do so in Clayton.

We are extremely grateful to outgoing Directors Sam Dressler and Ben Miller for their many years of dedicated service. In recognition of his time as Board President from 2018-2020, Ben Miller has been named a Director Emeritus of Ramah Darom.
