There is nothing like celebrating Passover at Ramah Darom. Take in the beauty of our breathtaking 185-acre campus in the North Georgia mountains. Enjoy fresh, gourmet, kosher for Passover meals and snacks, prepared for you by our team of expert chefs. Seize the unique opportunity to learn and explore Jewish life, culture, texts and history with a diverse mix of distinguished scholars, leaders, thinkers, educators and artists. Hike to our on-campus waterfall, go for a swim in our pool or a boat ride on our lake, take an art class, climb our alpine tower, play a game of tennis or basketball or volleyball – or just relax in a rocking chair and enjoy the fresh mountain air!

And for the kids, we offer a full camp experience led by amazing counselors. Full and half stays for Passover are available.

RETURNING GUEST INFORMATION

  • Registration was open exclusively for Passover 2022 registrants through May 1. Full stay returning guests can guarantee their same housing location for 2023 through May 1. While we cannot guarantee exact room locations for returning half stay guests, they will receive priority housing consideration and exclusive registration in the first week. Please use the custom links for returning guest registration. General registration opens on May 2.
  • Early bird discounts are available until May 31 for new and returning guests. All guests registering June 1 or later will be charged at the standard rates.

NEW RATE STRUCTURE! The rates listed below are all-inclusive base rates and include accommodations in a Shared Cabin.

You will be able to select accommodation upgrades (to a Semi-Private cabin, Standard Hotel, Deluxe Hotel or Deluxe Private Cottage) as a later step in the registration process. Base rates include accommodations, all meals, snacks, alcoholic beverages and on-campus activities and programs. All rates are based on minimum double occupancy. If you would prefer to stay in a hotel room on your own, you will be assessed a single occupancy charge.

Shared Cabins are shared by 4 families. There are 4 private rooms per building and 2 center rooms with 8 bunk beds in each. There are 2 shared bathroom areas with walk-in showers per building – you will be sharing a bathroom with another family in this housing type. You may request to be housed with specific families in this housing type or we will pair you in a cabin building with another reservation. ** Please contact us for a discounted “Family Reunion” rate if you are an extended family of 6 or more immediate households who would like to share one Shared Cabin building.

PAYMENT POLICIES

  • Guest stays are sold for full and half stays. Guests are welcome to come and go on the dates that serve them best, but we are unable to prorate registration for any unused dates within the reservation time.
  • Early bird discounts are $100 per person. This discount only applies to guests who have been registered during the early bird time, which ends May 31, 2022. Any guests added to a reservation after the end of early bird will be charged at the regular rate.
  • All registration payments made by November 30, 2022 will not incur any credit card fees. Any credit card payments made on or after December 1, 2022 will incur a 2.5% fee.

PASSOVER 2023 PRICING

Base rates include accommodations, all meals, snacks, alcoholic beverages and on-campus activities and programs.

Early Bird discount of $100 automatically applied per person for all guests registered before June 1, 2022.

Optional excursions, merchandise, travel, airport transfers, and personal services like massages are extra; opportunities to preregister for excursions and airport transportation will be provided in early 2023.

The following upgrade charges apply to each adult. There are no upgrade charges for young adults/teens/children staying in the same room/cabin as adults. Families requesting a second hotel room for their children will be assessed a Single Occupancy charge for the second room.

STAFF GRATUITIES

Staff gratuities are intended as supplemental compensation for our hard-working part-time seasonal staff (waiters, kitchen staff, housekeeping, shuttle drivers, etc.), all of whom work long hours at hourly rates. Your final Passover invoice will include a line item for staff gratuities in the amount of 2.5% of your reservation total. This is a minimum guarantee, but guests are always welcome to leave additional gratuities.

PAYMENT SCHEDULE – Reservations can only be guaranteed if payments are received by the deadlines above.

  • Deposit of $500 per adult is required at reservation.
  • November 30, 2022 – $1,000 per adult and $500 per young adult/teen/child is due.
  • January 31, 2023 – Full remaining balance for all guests is due.

CANCELLATIONS – Cancellations must be submitted in writing, and refunds will be honored on the following schedule:

  • Cancellations up to July 15, 2022: Full refund minus $100 administrative fee per person.
  • Cancellations from July 16, 2022 to November 30, 2022: Full refund minus $500 fee per adult or $100 per child/teen/young adult.
  • Cancellations from December 1, 2022 – January 31, 2023: 50% of total registration fee is non-refundable.
  • Cancellations after Tuesday, January 31, 2023: No refunds.

We strongly recommend the purchase of travel insurance for your deposit and reservation in case of changed plans or unanticipated cancellations to receive a refund for deposits or reservations after any cancellation policy dates. Trip Protection Insurance.

Accommodations

Cabins

Ramah Darom’s cabins are modern and spacious with hardwood floors, a screened-in porch and indoor bathroom(s). Each cabin has an open area with dorm-style bunk beds and 1 or 2 private rooms with twin beds. Pricing is based on a Shared Cabin rate. Upgrades are available to Semi-Private Cabins, Hotel Rooms and Cottages. See Rates & Payment Information.

Multi Family Cabin

Shared Cabins
There are 2 shared cabins per building and each cabin is shared by 2 families (4 families per building). Each cabin has 2 private rooms, 1 center room with 8 bunk beds and a shared bathroom. The bathrooms have multi-stalls and walk-in showers. You may request to be housed with specific families to share the cabin with or we will pair you with another reservation. For extended families of 6 or more who would like to share one cabin building, please contact us for a “Family Reunion” discount.

Semi-Private Cabins
There are 16 semi-private cabins on campus available with 4 semi-private cabins per building (4 families per building). In a semi-private cabin each family has their own space separated from another family by a pocket door with 1 private room, 1 center room with 4 bunk beds and a private bathroom.

For all cabins, linens are provided, but beds are not made up.

Hotel Rooms

We have 4 hotels on our 185-acre campus. All hotel rooms have a private bathroom, a table and two chairs, heating and air conditioning, complimentary toiletries, and bed and bath linens.

Standard Hotel Rooms

Hotel

Ramah Darom has two standard hotel buildings on campus, Marcus Lodge (ML) and Mountainside Hotel (MSH). These hotels are located up a steep hill with stairs, a boardwalk and walking paths to the main areas of the campus. Each standard hotel room has 2 queen beds, a table with chairs, 1 dresser and a private bathtub shower. Some connecting rooms are available. 

 


Deluxe Hotel Rooms

Deluxe Hotel

There are two deluxe hotel building on Ramah Darom’s campus, the Welcome Center and Lakeside Hotel. These spacious hotel rooms feature 2 queen beds or 1 king bed, a table with chairs, 1 dresser and a private bathtub shower.

The Welcome Center is a flat walk to the Levine Center (where meals are served and most of the action takes place) and has 2 ADA rooms available. The Lakeside Hotel is up a steep hill close to the lake and not far from the Levine Center.

 

Deluxe Private Cottages

Cottage Rooms

There are 4 deluxe private cottages on Ramah Darom’s campus and they are our most luxurious accommodations! These beautiful studio-style cottages feature a kitchenette, private porch, bathroom with walk-in shower, king-sized bed and full-sized pullout couch. Please note that cottages are not ADA accessible and have stair-only access.

 

 

Kosher for Passover Food & Beverage

The Kaplan Mitchell Retreat Center at Ramah Darom boasts a kosher kitchen facility, under the supervision of the Atlanta Kashruth Commission and an impressive culinary team under the direction of Executive Chef, Tzvi Weinreich. Our kosher for Passover menus are filled with healthy and delicious choices with enough variety to satisfy even our most picky eaters. We can accommodate a variety of food sensitivities as well as vegans and vegetarians.

If you receive a positive COVID-19 test result in the days leading up to the retreat and are unable to attend, we are unfortunately not able to refund your payment due to upfront costs. Therefore, we highly recommend purchasing Trip Protection Insurance.

Highlighted 2023 Artists, Educators & Opportunities

New Opportunities

New “Donate Your Dam (Blood).” Guests can sign up for the first-ever Passover Retreat Blood Drive on Monday, April 9 from 10:00am-4:00pm. Walk-ins are welcome the day of based on remaining space.

New Urban Garage Music Workshop. Liz Queler and Seth Farber, the talented founders of New York-based Urban Garage Music will offer Passover guests a special opportunity to participate in this one-of-a-kind workshop with the support of Neshama Carlebach. This music-intensive will culminate in a Monday Evening Showcase featuring our community of musicians, amateur and pro, young and old! Accompaniment at the showcase will be provided as needed.

Throughout Sunday, April 9 & Monday, April 10 participants of all ages will be coached by Liz and Seth, who are masters in teaching stage skills and guiding musicians in group performances. Participants will also have the opportunity to work one-on-one with Neshama Carlebach and be coached in the kavanah (intention) that connects music with performance.

Artists & Educators

Neshama Carlebach is an award-winning singer, songwriter and educator who has performed and taught in cities around the world. A winner and four-time nominee in the Independent Music Awards for her most current release, Believe and winner of the Global Music Awards Silver Award for Outstanding Performance by a female vocalist for the album, Neshama has sold over one million records, making her one of today’s best-selling Jewish artists in the world. In her teenage years she performed alongside her father, the late Rabbi Shlomo Carlebach. As the first then-Orthodox woman of her generation to perform for a mixed-gender audience, Neshama has sparked public conversations with brave forays into the place of women in Judaism and today’s world. During the worldwide pandemic, Neshama was able to pivot and transform her work platform. From her home studio, Neshama performed/participated in over 300 Zoom events, ranging from fundraisers to gala events and life cycle moments. For more than two decades, Neshama has shared her insights on various topics as an essayist and is currently writing a memoir. Neshama began to offer #MeToo workshops and conversations in 2017. Neshama lives in New York with her husband Rabbi Menachem Creditor and their five children.

Seth Farber has played and conducted dozens of Broadway shows and worked with numerous artists, including Billy Joel, Jon Bon Jovi, Odetta, Gregg Allman, John Prine, Neshama Carlebach, Joan Osborne, Willy DeVille, and many others. Seth has played on, produced and arranged more than 100 CD’s, five of which were nominated for Grammy Awards. A composer in his own right Seth has released two solo piano CDs, blending New Orleans blues, jazz and ragtime into a soulful gumbo which Dirty Linen called “nothing short of excellent.” His pieces have been used extensively in film and on TV.

Liz Queler is hailed by Billboard Magazine as a “singer’s singer” Liz has performed on esteemed stages from Carnegie Hall to The Newport Folk Festival. A three-time Grammy nominee, Liz has released six critically acclaimed albums and performed nationwide. Her CD “The Edna Project,” a collaboration with pianist/husband Seth Farber, set 21 poems by Edna St. Vincent Millay to music. A commissioned theater piece, for which Liz also wrote the book, ensued. Liz has worked extensively as a composer and studio singer for TV and film. She teaches guitar, voice and songwriting. In 2019 Liz traveled to Israel to coach Ultimate frisbee and teach music at Ultimate Peace, a summer camp that brings together Jewish, Palestinian and Arab youths.
