KMRC Immunization Policy

Kaplan Mitchell Retreat Center at Ramah Darom
Effective August 2019

Who this policy covers

This immunization policy covers all attendees (including staff) at every Ramah Darom Retreat program held at the Kaplan Mitchell Retreat Center, including the annual Passover retreat. For Ramah Darom’s Summer Camp, please refer to our summer immunization policy. For group rentals at the Retreat Center, please refer to our rental guidelines.

Why does Ramah Darom require an immunization policy for our Retreats?

Vaccination is an important part of reducing illness from specific preventable infectious diseases and plays an integral part in promoting health and safety. It is our responsibility as members of the Jewish community to respect each other and protect individuals who may be put at increased risk by our actions.

At Ramah Darom Retreats, hundreds of guests live in close quarters for several days. Despite the best precautions taken to reduce the spread of infectious diseases, a shared living and eating environment increases the risk of transmission. Appropriate vaccination of all individuals will help us protect all members of our community and specifically, the most vulnerable: those who are too young to be vaccinated, the elderly, and/or those who have compromised immune systems.

Details of the Immunization Policy for Ramah Darom Retreats

Ramah Darom requires that all guests and visitors, including children of all ages, follow the vaccination requirements recommended by the Center for Disease Control’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices.

Note that not all states have the same requirements, but ALL vaccinations recommended by the ACIP are required at Ramah Darom Retreats.

Guests attending a Ramah Darom Retreat must provide confirmation that they have read the immunization policy and are up-to-date on all required vaccinations. Retreat registration forms will ask guests to certify that they, and all members of their immediate family attending a Retreat, meet all immunization requirements. We will not require guests to submit their medical records except in exceptional circumstances.

Specific exemptions will only be made due to age, illness or other medical conditions and will be at the discretion of the Ramah Darom Medical Committee. Religious exemptions will not be permitted. Any Retreat attendee who believes they require an exemption should contact the Director of the Kaplan Mitchell Retreat Center at least 10 days prior to attending a Retreat.

Thank you for keeping our Ramah Darom community healthy!
